Waist: Measure your dog's waist approximately 1½ inch from the rear legs.

Use the measurement

REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIAL TYPES OF DOGS!
If your dog has no waist due to the type of dog her/she is (e.g. Dachshund), or overweight it would be best to fit them with a Doggie-Jumper diaper.  If your dog's waist is larger then his/her hind-end there is a possibility the DogGiedee diaper may slide off.  The diaper is held in-place around the dog's waist and the hind-end is used to stabilize the diaper and prevent it from slipping off.  The Jumper is similar to the DogGiedee with one noticeable difference!   A portion of the diaper extends under the dogs chest and is secured around the dog's neck with a tied sash.  The sash will not chock or cause any discomfort to the animal, but it will keep the diaper from slipping off.  Other small dogs, such as the Chihuahua, have proven to be very clever and a few have managed to slip their way out the the DogGiedee diapers.  If you have one of these clever guys you may need to use the Jumper.
